I love the images in this little recipe book and so many of these recipes are nostalgic to me and more are what we cook and bake daily. We have porridge with berries most mornings, I love the soup recipes (I recently purchased a soup maker, and it is life-changing), Irish rarebit reminds me of Home Economics in boarding school, mushrooms on toast – yum! Potted herrings, cod’s roe, Irish stew, baked egg custards, and kippers all remind me of my Dad, Owen. Spiced red cabbage, apple crumble and potato and leek soup are my mother's (Kathy) favorites, and the bread-and-butter pudding and steamed marmalade pudding are on my table since my boarding school days! They are all there in one concise perfect treasure of a book for your kitchen. I will be passing this one down to my kids. Once again, Gill books have published a perfect collection of Ireland's favorite meals.
